ACTION PLAYBOOK:
Meet with your Elected Official
A constituent meeting with your elected official is the most effective way to inspire them to act on climate.
A constituent meeting is a face-to-face meeting with your elected official or their staff, where you’ll use both facts and anecdotes to encourage them to take the action you want. Constituent meetings are by far the most effective advocacy tactic: research shows they have 47x the efficacy of a personalized email or phone call.
Beyond any one policy ask, the ultimate goal of a constituent meeting is to build an authentic and personal relationship with the elected official or their staffer. You can request a constituent meeting with any elected official who represents you, from your U.S. Senator to your city council member. Our elected representatives work for us, so we can and should hold them accountable.

Estimated time: 60-90 minutes. Start and come back anytime.
Since you’ll be waiting to hear back from staffers on calendar availability, and you may be collaborating with fellow constituents, this high-bar action will be accomplished over a few days or even weeks. So worth it!
Our community also takes action together during drop-in Zoom meetups called Hours of Action. Join one here!
